Baltic League, Game 15-16: March 1-3, 2008

 After a two-week break in action, ASK Riga made the biggest move in the Baltic League over the weekend with a 75-69 home victory over Zalgiris Kaunas. Riga, which got 24 points from Sandis Valters, improved to 12-5 and is now alone in third place, while Zalgiris dropped to 14-2 and out of its first-place tie. Riga won but a single quarter in the game, the third, but in doing so by 23-12 and staying close enought in the others, made off with a key victory. Three-point shooting made the difference as Riga hit 9 of 24 tries, Zalgiris just 4 of 20. Valters made 6 of 14 threes alone. He was joined in scoring by Curtis Millage with 19 points and A.J. Bramlett with 12. For Zalgiris, which played without Marcus Brown, Mamadou Ndiaye had 16 points, Paulius Jankunas 12 and DeJuan Collins 11. Lietuvos Rytas took advantage by blasting away eighth-place Rock 104-77 at home as Martynas Gecevicius piled up 28 points. Jackson Vroman added 21 points for the winners, Kenan Bajramovic and Michailis Anisimovas 11 each, and Andrius Slezas 10. Other results saw Ventspils score a 65-67 road win over fellow ULEB Cup team Siauliai as Jimmy Baxter put up 17 points. BC Kalev/Cromo outlasted visiting Valmiera 93-90 thanks to 25 points from Valmo Kriisa. And Barons/LMT tamed their visitors from Neptunas by 89-68.
