Lithuanian League, Game 14: March 7-9, 2008

Lietuvos Rytas stayed atop the Lithuanian League standings with a perfect 15-0 by registered consecutive wins this weekend. L. Rytas downed Aisciai-Atletas 79-93 on Saturday behind 19 points from Mindaugas Lukauskis. Arturas Jomantas added 17, Jared Jordan had 16 while Kenan Bajramovic got 11 for L. Rytas, that opened the game with a 0-15 run and kept a double-digit margin all the way until the final buzzer. On Sunday, L. Rytas thrashed Sakalai 112-67 in Vilnius behind 21 points from Jackson Vroman. Lukauskis added 17, Chuck Eidson had 13 while Michailas Anisimovas and Martynas Gecevicius each got 12 in an easy win for L. Rytas. Zalgiris improved to 11-2 by thrashing Sakalai 69-98 on the road on Saturday. Dainius Salenga led 6 Zalgiris players in double digits with 17 points. Damir Markota added 16, Jonas Maciulis, Marko Popovic and Mamadou Ndiaye each had 12 while Mantas Kalnietis had 10 for the winners. Ndiaye added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Zalgiris led 36-50 at halftime and kept increasing its margin at the end of each quarter. It was a good week for Siauliai, that got consecutibw wins to improve to 9-6. On Friday, Siauliai beat Nevezis 79-70 with 18 points from Donatas Zavackas. Antonio Grant added 14, Gediminas Maceina and Virginijus Praskevicius each had 12 while Marius Prekevicius got 10 for Siauliai, that kept a safe lead throughout the fourth quarter. On Saturday, Siauliai edged Neptunas 85-87 behind 26 points from Zavackas, who also had the game-winning basket in the final seconds. Praskevicius added 13 while Maceina, Aurimas Kieza and Prekevicius each added 11 for the winners. In other games, Alytus edged Suduva 88-92 while Techasas registered a 72-75 home loss against Neptunas but then downed Nevezis 80-82.
