Viktor Khryapa - CSKA Moscow CSKA Moscow held onto the top spot in the Russian League with a 94-71 win over Ural Great on Saturday. Viktor Khryapa scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the defending champs as they improved to 20-1 – maintaining its one victory lead over second place Khimki, which outclassed Sibirtelekom-Lokomotiv 96-74 as Daniel Ewing struck for 16 points. Meanwhile Unics Kazan took a big stop towards the top four spots with an 84-78 overtime win over Triumph Lyubertsy. Viktor Keyru shined with 8 points in overtime to guarantee the win. Unics improved to 13-7, remaining one win behind both Triumph and Dynamo Moscow at 14-6. In other weekend games, Spartak St. Petersburg bested Sibirtelekom-Lokomotiv 86-75 as Lewis Sims led the way with 23 points and Spartak Primorje defeated Lokomotiv Rostov 86-71 as Joseph Blair stood tall with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Viktor Khryapa scored 23 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the defending champs as they improved to 20-1. The hosts pulled away early, winning the first period 28-13 en route to an easy win. David Andersen added 17 points, Trajan Langdon and Matjaz Smodis scored 11 each and Nikos Zisis netted 10 for CSKA. Brent Wright posted 16 points and 8 rebounds for Ural Great.

Khimki outclassed Sibirtelekom-Lokomotiv 96-74 as Daniel Ewing struck for 16 points. After taking a promising early lead, the hosts let Lokomotiv back into the game and the score stood at 43-37 by halftime. However a 31-12 third quarter erased any doubts as Khimki cruised to a big win. Anton Ponkrashov added 13 points for Khimki, Kelly McCarty posted 12 and Clay Tucker and Nikita Shabalkin had 10 each for the winners. Ilia Aleksandrov scored 13 to lead the visitors.

Unics Kazan took a big stop towards the top four spots with an 84-78 overtime win over Triumph Lyubertsy. Unica led by 4 with a minute remaining in regulation, but Triumph remained focused and Sergey Toporov forced overtime, 67-67. The momentum remained with the visitors as overtime got underway, but Keyru soon turned the tables and helped Kazan to an important win. Keyru and Sergey Chikalkin led Unics with 16 points apiece, Dimitry Sokolov added 14 points and 11 rebounds, Dusko Savanovic scored 13 and Darjus Lavrinovic posted 10 points and 19 boards. Terrell Lyday had 21 points for Triumph, Toprov scored 13 and Mire Chatman and Ognjen Askrabic finished with 12 each.
