 It would take an important result to affect the playoff hunt to be more important than a triple-overtime thriller, but that’s what the Dutch League offered on Saturday. The defending champion EiffelTowers edged the West Brabant Giants 74-79 to remain on pace to climb into second by the end of next week’s final games. The Giants have now finished the regular season with a 27-13 record, but Den Bosch at 25-13 has two games to play. Damone Brown scored 18 to lead the EiffelTowers, while Darrell Rucker added 15, Travis Young 14 and Dean Oliver 13. Young and Oliver also dished 5 assists each. Patrick Pope and Devonne Giles scored 20 apiece for the Giants. Regular season champion MyGuide Amsterdam also suffered a loss, going down 79-94 to Hanzevast Capitals. Amsterdam led at the break, but only scored 32 second-half points as the Capitals swooped up the win. Dwayne Archbold and Alton Mason paced the Caps with 26 points each. Teddy Gipson scored 20 for Amsterdam. The real thriller took place in Nijmegen, where Landstede neede three overtime periods to beat Matrixx Magixx 92-98. Darnell Wilson, who played 54 minutes for Landstede, finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 7 steals and Robby Bostain added 13 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Chris Copeland had 30 in defeat. In other games, Upstairs Weert downed Den Helder 97-75 and the Rotterdam Challengers defeated Aris Friesland 73-55.
