Serbian League, second phase, Game 5: April 19-20, 2008

Partizan Igokea took the big showdown in the Serbian League this weekend by edging archrivals Crvena Zvezda 78-83 at Pionir Arena on Saturday. Partizan improved to 3-0 while Zvezda dropped to 3-2. Novica Velickovic paced the winners with 21 points while Nikola Pekovic and Milt Palacio each added 17 for Partizan. Vujadin Subotic and Elmedin Kikanovic each had 16 points for Zvezda, Omar Cook added 14 while Steven Markovic and Miroslav Raicevic got 11 apiece for the hosts, that missed star forward Tadija Dragicevic. It was a balanced game for 38 minutes but Velickovic stepped up to win it for Partizan. Zvezda coach Stevan Karadzic resigned right after the game. Hemofarm Stada improved to 3-2 by downing Borac Cacak 78-63 in Vrsac also on Saturday. Boban Marjanovic and Vladan Vukosavljevic led the winners with 15 points apiece while Nebojsa Joksimovic added 10 for Hemofarm, that led 46-25 at halftime and kept a safe lead for good. FMP dropped to 3-1 due to a 86-75 road loss against Vojvodina Srbijagas. Ivan Paunic paced the winners with 26 points. Zoran Erceg had 21 points for FMP while Dragan Labovic added 10. FMP trailed 50-40 at halftime and did nto manage to recover after the break. Last but not last, Vizura topped Lions 76-73 behind 20 points from Stefan Sinovec.
