The British Championship regular season came to an end this weekend and it came as no surprise that the Newcastle Eagles won the title with a 29-4 record. The Eagles rounded a near-perfect regular season with a 95-84 overtime home win against the Sheffield Sharks. Alto Virgil sank a triple to force overtime, 78-78, but the Sharks could not escape with a win. Steve Leven paced the winners with 23 points while Charles Smith and Olu Babalola each added 17 for the Eagles. The Guildford Heat finished second at 24-9 by topping the Leicester Raiders 82-99 on Saturday behind 22 points from EJ Harrison. The Heat finished the regular season with a 94-76 road loss against the Scottish Rocks. The Plymouth Raiders also finished with a 24-9 record by edging the Marshall MK Lions 77-73. Drew Lasker led the way with 22 points. In other games, the Everton Tigers beat the Rocks 82-68 and then thrashed the Birmingham Panthers 71-113. London Capital edged the Worcester Wolves 82-84 and then downed the Panthers 85-65. Meanwhile, the Riders finished the regular season with a 97-104 overtime road win against Cheshire Jets.
