After a slim first-game victory on the road in Vladivostok, a nine-hour flight from Moscow,, CSKA returned home on Friday to lead by only 21-25 after a quarter against Spartak Primorje. In the second quarter, with help on the boards from Victor Khryapa and perfect shooting from Ramunas Siskauskas, CSKA pulled away to a 38-49 halftime lead. CSKA's shots kept falling after the break, as Langdon continued burying triples, and the lead was up to 57-75 after three quarters, an advantage that was not threatened the rest of the way. Other double-figure scorers for CSKA were Marcus Goree with 11 points and J.R. Holden with 10. Holden, Khryapa and Zakhar Pashutin had 5 assists apiece among CSKA's 23 total. Despite the long trip, the visitors made 60% of their two-point shots (24-for-40) and 50% of their triples (12-for-23). Joe Blair scored 18 ponts and 11 rebounds for Spartak Primorje, while J.R. Bremer had 14 points and 10 assists.
After leading Game 2 of its series by just 43-47 at halftime, Khimki pulled away to victory with great defense after the break, allowing Rostov just 25 points the rest of the way. McCarty helped the visitors dominate on the boards, too, w ith 10 rebounds. Maceij Lampe added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners, while Clay Tucker added 11 points. Uincs really exploded after halftime at Ural Great, using a 5-26 third quarter to take control of the game and to even the series. Ural had led 40-37 at the break behind the inside power of Brindley Wright and fine three-point shooting by Vanja Plisnic. Stanescu went wild after that, however, and when he was done had put down 11 of 16 two-point shots. Savanovic got to the line for 7 of his points while Tariq Kirksay and Jerry McCullough chipped in 12 each. Triumph jumped ahead of visiting Dynamo 27-15 after one quarter and cruised to victory with a late surge. Dynamo tried to come back in the middle quarters with defense, but could only chip away at Triumph's lead due to poor shooting. Slokar's dominance on the boards led Triumph to a 40-21 lead in rebounds that Dynamo could not overcome. Dmitriev Fedor added 12 points and Mire Chatman 11 for the winners, who hit 11 of 22 three-point shots, compared to 6 of 19 for Dynamo, for whom Henry Domercant had 16 points and Robertas Javtokas 14.
