Alba Berlin wrapped up first place for the regular season and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs on Saturday with a 62-70 win at Walter Tigers Tubingen in the penultimate round of the German League regular season. Julius Jenkins scored 22 as Berlin improved to 26-7 – a two-win lead over second placed Artland Dragons and Bayer Giants Leverkusen – with one game to play. Artland downed Leverkusen 87-95 in the crucial battle for second place and now holds the spot thanks to a tiebreaker. Defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg doomed TBB Trier to relegation with a 95-71 win as Predrag Suput netted 17 points. Deutsche Bank Skyliners, Telekom Bonn and EWE Baskets Oldenburg remained tied for fifth with wins. Frankfurt came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat ratiopharm Ulm 82-69, Bonn bested Koln 99ers 88-71 and EWE Baskets Oldenburg bested Science City Jena 76-57 as Dan McClintock posted 13 points and 11 rebounds. In other games, digibu Baskets topped Eisbaren Bremerhaven 89-75 behind 25 points from Steven Esterkamp, New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig edged BG 74 Gottingen 88-90 and EnBW Ludwigsburg defeated LTi Giessen 46ers 89-67 thanks to 23 points from Ronald Ross.

Berlin built a 10-point halftime lead and took care of the ball all night – only 5 turnovers – en route to the win. Aleksandar Nadjfeji added 10 points and Immanuel McElroy had 7 points and 10 boards for Berlin. Bingo Merriex paced Tubingen with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Artland downed Leverkusen 87-95 in the crucial battle for second place and now holds the spot thanks to a tiebreaker. The visitors used a 15-24 third quarter to pull ahead and held on for the win, benefiting from the hosts’ 17 turnovers. Lamont McIntosh paced the Dragons with 21 points, Adam Chubb added 17, Leon Rodgers 14, John Goldsberry 13 and Paul Johnson 10. Eric Taylor led the Giants with 26 points and 12 rebounds and Zack Whiting finished with 16 points and 9 assists.

Bamberg outscored Trier 30-14 in the second period to take a 56-34 halftime lead that was more than enough for the victory. Predrag Suput paced Bamberg with 17 points, Ademola Okulaja added 16, Jared Reiner 15 and Dwayne Mitchell 11. Caleb Green had 25 in defeat. Deutsche Bank Skyliners came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat ratiopharm Ulm 82-69. The hosts outscored Ulm 30-10 in the last 10 minutes to secure the win. Ilian Evitmov scored 22 and Koko Archibong recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead Frankfurt. Pascal Roller added 15 and Derrick Allen 11 for the winners.
