Final Four and wheelchair stars to meet Thursday
UnicefThe Euroleague Basketball Social Responsibility Program will also have its own highlight during the 2008 Euroleague Final Four. The most important event of the European basketball season will begin with a social activity developed together with UNICEF. A total of eight players, two from each of the Final Four's participating teams, will visit with players and teams from the European Basketball Wheelchair Championships on Thursday, May 1 at the San Agustín School, 18 Padre Damian Street in Madrid, starting at 10:00 a.m. The Euroleague stars who will visit with the wheelchair basketball stars are Tomas Van den Spiegel and Nikos Zizis of CSKA Moscow, Sergi Vidal and Zoran Planinic of Tau Ceramica, Tal Burstein and Derrick Sharp of Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv, and Vlado Ilievski and Shaun Stonerook of Montepaschi Siena. During the event, both sets of players will have the chance to share their feelings and experiences, as well as to talk about the differences of both basketball disciplines, with the aim to transmit the importance of sport in personal development. The Euroleague Basketball Social Responsibility program started last season with several activities, like visits to hospitals or activities observing the World AIDS Day, in collaboration with UNICEF.
