Zadar and Split CO keep tying atop the Croatian League standings, each with a 9-1 record. Zadar survived a tough test by edging Zagreb Crobenz 76-71 at home on Saturday. Corey Brewer paced the winners with 28 points on 6-for-9 two-pointers and 3-for-4 triples. Juby Johnson added 19 while Jure Lalic had 14 points and 9 rebounds. The game was an incredible thriller that saw seven lead changed before Krunoslav Simon gave Zagreb a 70-71 edge already in the final minute. Brewer drew a foul and a tehcnical foul on the guests' bench allowed him to make 4-for-4 free throws. Simon missed from downtown while Andrej Stimac sealed the outcome with more foul shots. Meanwhile, Split topped defending champion Cibona 94-86 at home on Saturday. Marlon Garnett paced the winners with 30 points. Dejan Ivanov posted a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds while Hrvoje Peric added 16 points for Split. Chris Warren had 25 points for Cibona, Damir Mulaomerovic added 20, Sam Hoskin got 11 and Vedran Vukusic 10 for the guests, that got within 73-70 late in the third quarter. Ivanov and Peric took over in the fourth quarter to win it for Split. In other games, Sibenik topped Dubrava 86-94 behind 30 points from Luka Drezga while Cedevita downed Svjetlost Brod 81-90.
