Spirou Basket Charleroi downed Telindus BC Oostende 77-60 to earn sole possession of second place in the Belgian League. Spirou got 17 points from Matt Walsh as it improved to 24-9 – one win more than defending champion Oostende. The visitors actually led 34-36 at halftime, but Charleroi took control with a 26-10 third period and held on for an important win. Tremmell Darden and Jonathan Tabu added 11 points apiece, Len Matela posted 10 points and 8 rebounds and Andre Riddick scored 9 and blocked 5 shots for the winners. Chuck Davis scored 14 and Elvir Ovcina and Greg Brunner had 10 each for Oostende. League-leading Basket Bree edged Antwerp Diamond Giants 73-74 on Nick Jacobsen's late free throws to remain two wins ahead of Charleroi. Jacobsen finished with 24 points and Dor Fisher posted 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks for Bree. Ian Hanavan led Antwerp with 26. In other games, VOO Verviers-Pepinster held off Generali Okapi Aalstar 91-83 as Sacha Massot recorded 20 points and 10 boards, Spotter Leuven blasted Belgacom Liege Basket 74-60 behind 28 points from Ron Lewis and Dexia Mons-Hainaut bested Optima Gent 77-84.
