VOO Verviers-Pepinster edged Basket Bree and both Spirou Basket Charleroi and Telindus BC Oostende won to reopen the race for the top spot in the Belgian League. Pepinster stunned Bree 89-91 as Aleksandar Zecevic and Earnest Shelton led a strong fourth quarter effort to build a double-digit advantage that Bree couldn’t overcome. Shelton paced Pepinster with 26 points and Zecevic added 16. Doron Perkins led Bree with 18 points and 8 assists. Charleroi improved to 25-9 and trails Bree by just one win after a 67-74 come-from-behind win at Belgacom Liege Basket. Charleroi got 19 apiece from Jonathan Tabu and Tremmell Darden en route to the win. Oostende crushed Spotter Leuven 79-58 as Chuck Davis scored 16, Titus Ivory 15 and Elvir Ovcina 11. In other games, Dexia Mons-Hainaut trashed Antwerp Diamond Giants 88-71 as Nate Reinking netted 17 and Generali Okapi Aalstar bested Optima Gent 93-79 Loren Stokes, who came off the bench for 19 points on perfect shooting in 20 minutes off the bench.
