Austrian League playoffs, Semifinals, Game 5: May 10, 2008
There will be a new champion in the Austrian League after BSC Raiffeisen Furstenfeld defeated the three-time defending champion Allianz Swans Gmunden in the fifth and deciding game in the playoff semifinals on Saturday. Furstenfeld will face Oberwart Gunners in the finals. Neither team has ever won the crown before. Furstenfeld defeated Gmunden 95-86 on Saturday after opening up a 17-point first-half lead before settling for a 53-39 advantage at halftime. The Swans battled back to 83-83 late in the game, but scored 1 point over the next two minutes as Furstenfeld put the game away. Michael Fraser led the winners with 24 points, Milan Goljovic added 18 and Samo Grum 15. Ian Boylan paced Gmunden with 26, Deteri Mayes had 19 and Petr Hutter 15.
