Russian League Semifinals, Game 2: May 8-10, 2008
JR Holden - CSKA Moscow CSKA Moscow needed overtime, but found the recipe to beat rival Dynamo Moscow 85-78 on Saturday and take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five Russian league semifinals. The freshly crowned Euroleague champions joined Khimki in winning the first two games of their respective series at home. J.R. Holden played over 40 minutes, scored 19 points and dished 7 assists to lead CSKA in a game that was close from start to finish. Trajan Langdon added 17 points, Matjaz Smodis posted 15 points and 9 rebounds and David Andersen and Ramunas Siskauskas netted 11 apiece for the winners. Travis Hansen made 5 triples en route to 19 points for Dynamo, Antonis Fotsis added 15 and Sergey Monya had 14 for Dynamo, which was hurt by committing 16 turnovers – twice as many as CSKA. On Thursday, Khimki bested Ural Great 99-90. Maciej Lampe recorded 29 points and 9 rebounds for the winners, who took control of the game with a 33-19 third quarter. Daniel Ewing added 21 points, Kelly McCarty scored 18 and Vitaly Fridzon had 12. Ralph Biggs paced Ural Great with 27 points, Aleksei Zozulin had 20, Vanja Plisnic 13, Andrew Wisniewski 12 and Brent Wright 11.
