Barcelona keeps forward Ilyasova

F.C. Barcelona has extended the contract of jumping-jack forward Ersan Ilyasova for at least another season. Ilyasova (207, 21) played his first full Euroleague season with Barcelona and averaged 6.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots in just 18 minutes per game. His blocked-shot average ranked sixth among all Euroleague players during the 2007-08 season. The Uzbekistan native improved after Barcelona changed coaches in midseason and ended up leading the team during to the Spanish League playoff finals. Ilyasova had previously debuted in the Euroleague with his original club, Ulker Istanbul, at the age of 17 and played six games at the end of the 2004-05 season. He continued his career with Milwaukee of the NBA, returning last season to Europe with Barcelona. Their new deal covers two seasons with options for each side after the first one.
