McDonald stays put in Girona

Akasvayu Girona announced that veteran guard Arriel McDonald will remain with the team and provide leadership as it makes its ULEB Cup debut this season. McDonald (189, 35) signed a two-year deal through the end of the 2008-09 campaign. McDonald was chosen MVP of the EuroCup Final Four as Akasvayu lifted the title last season. He also averaged 10.8 points and 2.6 assists in 34 Spanish League games. McDonald arrived in Girona for the 2005-06 season and has become a fan favorite. McDonald's career has seen him achieve success at every stop of his career. He won three league championships and three cups from 1996 to 1999 with Union Olimpija in Slovenia, then moved to Israel to add four league titles and four cups in as many years with Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he also won the SuproLeague title in 2001. He then moved to Greece to join Panathinaikos where he won two league championships and one cup in two years. He also played for Dynamo Moscow before joining Akasvayu.
