Rudy Fernandez commits himself to Joventut

Rudy Fernandez will remain with his boyhood club. DKV Joventut Badalona, for the foreseeable future after the talented swingman signed a contract extension on Friday. Fernandez (196, 21), last season's Euroleague Rising Star award winner, put pen to paper on a deal that sees him linked to Badalona through the 2010-11 season. Fernandez averaged 15.8 points with spectacular accuracy – making 54.9% of his two-point shots and 42.9% from beyond the arc – and 2.1 steals per game in 19 Euroleague games last season for Joventut. Keeping Fernandez at the club gives Joventut two of the best young players in Europe together with Ricky Rubio. The two will have the chance to continue developing their games under head coach Aito Garcia Reneses, who has helped groom some of the top talents in Spanish basketball.
