Undefeated teams cut nearly in half
|
The number of undefeated teams dropped to just six and that of exclusive group leaders to four, but Week 3 provided some hope, too, for a total of four first-time winners. None of Tuesday's 27 victors had as much to celebrate, however, as CEZ Nymburk, which not only defeated Panellinios of Greece 75-65 for its first Group F triumph, but in doing so won the first game by a team from the Czech Republic in ULEB Cup history. The other clubs to win their first ULEB Cup games ever were Siauliai of Lithuania, Benetton Tamoil of Italy and Hapoel Galil Elyon of Israel. Elsewhere, DKV Joventut of Spain won its first-place showdown against visiting Turk Telekom 102-83 to take the exclusive lead in in Group A. Besiktas Cola Turka did the same in Group B, pulling out a 77-78 thriller on the road at FMP. Group D is the only one left with undefeated co-leaders, Pamesa and Khimki, who both won home games. Triumph Lyubertsy of Russia is all alone atop Group E after knocking off Swans Gmunden away by a whopping 53-83. Group H has the last undefeated team, BC Kyiv, which humbled visiting Pau-Orthez 91-55.
