|
Days before a ULEB Cup showdown to decide the team's survival, Hemofarm Stada of Serbia saw its head coach, Miroslav Nikolic, resign over the weekend. Nikolic made his announcement at a press conference following Hemofarm's 74-83 Adriatic League home loss on Saturday to another ULEB Cup eighthfinalist, Zadar. On Sunday, the Hemofarm board of managers accepted Nikolic's resignation. When it travels to play Akasvayu Girona of Spain for the second and last game of their Last 16 series on Tuesday, Hemofarm will be coached by assistants Miodrag Rajkovic and Goran Topic. Hemofarm lost the first-leg home game by 9 points, and therefore would need to beat Akasvayu by 10 to reach the Final Eight phase of the competition. Nikolic was Hemofarm head coach for two
seasons, reaching both the ULEB Cup and Serbian League playoff semifinals. He cited a misunderstandings with club management for his decision to resign.
