ULEB General Assembly meets in Turin
Turin, Italy 13 April 2008: During the celebration of Final Eight weekend in Turin, the ULEB General Assembly met to discuss several issues that affect the future of the competition. During this meeting, the Assembly decided to approve the framework of the agreement with FIBA Europe and authorised the Executive Committee and the Euroleague Basketball CEO to negotiate all remaining details necessary to implement the agreement for the 2008-09 season.

The General Assembly has also renewed for an additional four years the Executive Committee members' mandate, which has been comprised of the Spanish, Italian, German and Adriatic leagues. The Spanish League president, Mr. Eduardo Portela, is also president of ULEB. The Assembly also decided to add the Greek League as a new member to the Executive Committee.

The competition calendars and preseason activities for Euroleague Basketball were presented and discussed, as were new competition formats for both the Euroleague and the ULEB Cup. In the same way, CEO of Euroleague Basketball, Mr. Jordi Bertomeu announced that the organization is studying a possible structural modification of the Euroleague and would be put into effect for 2009-10, at the end of the current triennial licence period. Among other things, the modification would look at a redistribution of territorial licences in order to reflect the changes that have taken place in European basketball since the creation of Euroleague Basketball in 2000 and to establish parameters for meeting new challenges faced by European club competitions.
